August 17 morning, the opening ceremony of "Han's Laser - Hunan University (also called HNU) Joint Laser Intelligent Manufacturing Technology R&D Center" was held in HNU College of Mechanical and Vehicle. A group of leaders including Chen Yi, the general manager as well as Chen Genyu, the chief engineer of Han’s Laser Sheet metal Division, and Liu Jinshui, the vice president of Hunan University attended the opening ceremony.

According to Chen Yi, laser technology has great significance for national science and technology and worldwide modern manufacturing. The strategic cooperation between Han's Laser and Hunan University in the field of laser intelligent manufacturing research is important. The recent cooperation is fruitful: they have developed several mutual cooperation on the national science and technology major projects; laser cutting and welding solutions won "2015 China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award"; a total capital of RMB 200 million was invested in the project “2016 New model of intelligent manufacturing” started by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Han's Laser, Hunan University and other research units are going to jointly build five intelligent factories in three years.

According to Liu Jinshui, "Han's Laser - HNU Joint Laser Intelligent Manufacturing Technology R&D Center" is an important part of their strategic cooperation. Hunan University and Han's Laser are going to deepen their cooperation in the fields of laser cutting, welding, 3D printing, cleaning, drilling and so on.

The preparation situation of the R&D center was reported by Peng Xiaoyan, the secretary of the party committee of HNU College of Mechanical and Vehicle. The recent works are as follow: they prepared pre-acceptance materials for major national research and development projects; applied for several projects of Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; and sent postgraduates to Han's Laser Sheet metal Division to get trainings. Currently, there is a plan to set up leading groups and high-qualified technical teams for the R&D Center. In the future, Hunan University will develop industry-university-research cooperation with Han's Laser, opening a new situation of school-enterprise cooperation.
